Friday evening. The data room opens, and the IC paper is due in eleven days. This is the financial due diligence workstream, as an AI agent.
What arrives is never what you asked for. Three years of accounts, a management pack that does not quite tie back to them, a trial balance in the wrong format, and one spreadsheet somebody clearly built by hand. Before the team can argue about whether the EBITDA is real, an analyst loses four days rebuilding it.
You point Claude at whatever the seller actually sent, and you get back a full FDD databook in Excel and a matching management report in PowerPoint and PDF. Same numbers in both, because both are built from the same validated file.
It is designed to be hard to fool. If the balance sheet does not balance, it stops and tells you where, instead of quietly plugging the difference. Nothing enters the EBITDA bridge without a named source behind it, and an add-back you cannot evidence is recorded as a finding rather than accepted. Every headline figure is then recomputed a second, independent way, because a model that only ever agrees with itself has proved nothing.
What you actually get. Twenty workbook tabs of live formulas: the reported to adjusted EBITDA bridge showing what was accepted, proposed and rejected, net debt with debt-like items graded definite, probable and possible, working capital and the peg, the equity bridge, and running findings, request and question registers. Then a nineteen section report in which anything you did not examine is marked pending, not filled in with confident narrative.
